The 5 Best Fitness Centres in West London

23 Nov 2021 Alex

It’s right about that time of year again! You know... the time when everyone starts trying to work out what their potential New Year’s resolutions will be. Your ‘new year, new me’ pledge could include anything from moving house or getting back into the dating scene to simply getting fit.

To get the ball rolling, we’ve tracked down the five best gyms in West London for you. They cover a range of budgets and exercise styles - and the good news is that none are more than 20 minutes away from Quintain Living. So, you could easily kill two resolution birds with one stone by renting a Wembley apartment and joining one of these gyms. What’s more, most of our apartments have gyms and fitness rooms included in the rent! However, if you’re looking for a pool or more specialist gear, then we've got the best picks for you.

  1. The Gym Wembley Central

When it comes to finding the best gyms in Wembley itself, some consider The Gym to be the cream of the crop. We’re talking plenty of hi-tech equipment - no less than 42 cardio machines - and trainers who are geared towards helping you achieve your goals, no matter how low or high you feel like setting the bar.

Located right behind Wembley Central Station (next to the Tesco on Central Square), this is one of the best connected gyms in the city. Residents of our Robinson building only have about a six-minute walk to get there - if they’re looking for an alternative to the fitness studio within the Quintain Living apartments, of course. The Gym’s ‘Do It’ package costs £17.99 a month and the first 30 days will only set you back £10 (with a £5 joining fee). If you’re worried about how busy it might be, their website also has a live capacity tracker - nice touch, don’t you think?

  1. West London Boxing Academy

There’s working out and then there’s joining a boxing gym. The West London Boxing Academy is one to add to the list of contenders, mostly because people love calling it one of the city’s ‘hidden gems’. Expect adrenaline-fueled workouts and to be pushed by the local coaches, who are most likely going to live up to some of the Hollywood stereotypes created by the success of Million Dollar Baby

Although they keep tight-lipped about their membership fees online, they do offer flexible choices. Adult memberships come with an ‘Open Gym’ pass, although you can’t just show up; you’ll need to pre-book your slot online. That said, you won’t be sorry you did when you feel the vibration of their state-of-the-art sound system and get a sense for the arena vibe created by the seating set up around the ring.

  1. BXR Marylebone

BXR Marylebone is a high-end boxing gym that first opened around five years ago. And when we say ‘high-end’, we really mean it - you can expect to pay a pretty penny to become a member. From full access to limited or seasonal memberships, monthly fees range from £180 to £300, though single classes are £15 for members and £30 for non-members. Who says becoming a boxing champion is cheap?

If you’re serious about developing a winner’s mindset as part of your ‘new year, new me’ pledge, these facilities will cover everything you need, just one stop away from Wembley Stadium Station. We’re talking state-of-the-art equipment and expert advice with focused attention. Their services span various combat disciplines, strength and conditioning training and even nutrition advice. If you’d like to keep the momentum going outside of the gym, read up about their luxury fitness retreats, which are raved about online.

  1. KOBOX

Billing itself as a place “where Fight Club meets nightclub”, KOBOX is part of a chain of boxing gyms which offers a modern, experiential twist on classic HIIT training. The equipment will be familiar to anyone who’s ever entered a boxing gym - from free weights and slam balls to punch bags and top-of-the-line gloves. However, the loud thumping beats and blacklight decor in the background will get your heart rate pumping in a very different way, and make for a much more involved training session than your average boxing class.

Classes are split into two sections - first bringing clients up to speed on their “signature 6-punch combinations system”, then running them through broader training and fitness. Classes cost £22, though newcomers can get a “first timer” deal of £30 for their first two sessions. For the more hardcore, an unlimited annual membership will set you back £270 per month, giving you anytime access to any of the four KOBOX gyms across London.

  1. K Fit

K Fit rocks for multiple reasons, the first of which is that you can join for a week without having to sign any papers or even tap your card. After that, expect to shell out £65 a month to keep getting past security, though you’ll get a voucher for a 30% discount on any facial or massage to sweeten the deal. Now is probably a good time to mention that they are part of the K West Hotel & Spa group, hence the focus on the spa and wellness treatments.

Just like Quintain Living’s apartments give you access to an exceptional space, so does a membership with K Fit. From foreigners on holiday to locals looking for a more private workout experience, you never quite know who you might encounter during your workout. People rave about the gym’s core strengthening equipment online, which is great to try if you’ve got ambitions of starting yoga or pilates in the new year too.
